Flues Devon
A correctly sized flue and sound chimney are essential for a fire or stove to work correctly. Chimneys work by due to the fact that hot air rises, if cold air is leaking into the flue or an appliance is running very slowly the performance can be affected. This is due to the gases being cooled down and therefore not rising.
When a boiler or wood burning stove is running efficiently they will produce flue gases that are far hotter than that of an open fire. It is therefore necessary to have a insulated liner fitted within an existing chimney when a wood burner is installed to ensure that a sufficient draw of air exists. It is still possible to install a wood burning stove or boiler when there is no existing chimney by constructing a twin walled flue.

There are very important guidelines that need to followed when installing a flue outlet to a home. For instance they must be above the roofline, to allow clear, unrestricted release of combustion products, without casing a fire hazard. One one appliance is allowed to enter any one flue and every flue should be insulated in order o prevent condensation of water/tar to help protect the building from potential chimney fires.
Flue directions also need to be as straight and vertical as possible, and any horizontal runs must not exceed 150cm in length or bends shouldn't exceed 45ยบ. We can supply and install flues throughout the Devon area including Torbay, Torquay and Newton Abbot.
